2023 TDA Scholarship Recipients
The Texas Deer Association (TDA) proudly supports Texas students in helping to achieve their educational goals with the awarding of scholarships, on an annual basis, to deserving young Texans. This year at our 25th Annual Convention, we were able to recognize these individuals. 88th Texas Legislative Session Update – Passing of SB 1372
As the 88th session of the Texas Legislature is winding down, we are pleased to announce the passage of SB 1372! This bill only effects CWD positive facilities, and it transfers the burden of the cost of depopulations from the deer breeder to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Characterization of Classical Sheep Scrapie in White-tailed Deer After Experimental Oronasal Exposure
The transmissible spongiform encephalopathies of animals include scrapie in sheep and goats, CWD in cervids, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, and transmissible mink encephalopathy. These neurodegenerative diseases are associated with the accumulation of misfolded prion protein (PrPSc) in the central and peripheral nervous tissues as well as lymphoid tissues in the cases of classic scrapie and CWD.
