We’re excited to spotlight each outstanding student and showcase the bright futures ahead of them.
Pictured above is Mariana Westling. She attends Texas A&M with a major of Ag Leadership and Animal Science and a Minor in Genetics and Wildlife. She also plans to pursue a Master’s in Reproduction at Texas A&M.
Words from Mariana: “At Texas A&M University, I am intentionally pursuing degrees for cervidae and exotic species management by focusing on reproduction, genetics, nutrition and wildlife management. My involvement within the industry extends far beyond the classroom, through employments at NT Exotics, Lonehollow Whitetails, and Smith Whitetails. Of these, I have gained direct, hands-on experience in breeding programs and ranch operations.
Above is Cloey Sanders. She is graduating from Brownsboro High School and going to attend the University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in Familly Health Sciences and become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.
Words from Cloey: “While my career path is centered in healthcare, the values I have gained through agriculture and hardwork, compassion, and dedication will continue to guide me in making a positive impact in the lives of others.”
“Growing up in a family involved in the deer and livestock industry has shaped not only my work ethic but also my passion for agriculture, conservation, and community. These experiences have instilled in me a deep appreciation for the role that responsible land and wildlife management plays in Texas.”
Above is Caitlyn Patin. She is graduating from Madisonville High School and going to attend Texas A&M to pursue a degree in Animal Science with plans to become a large animal veterinarian. Words from Caitlyn: “I am especially passionate about going to vet school and getting my DVM (Doctorate or Veterinary Medicine) and one day owning my own clinic/operation.”
From Luke Duckworth, DVM, DACT: “Raised on an exotic and whitetail ranch, Caitlyn has spent her high school years as a pen manager. Her daily management tasks include hand feeding pen raised animals, evaluating the herd for sickness, and environmental husbandry. When needed, she has helped in surgical procedures, wound management, and fracture repair. She also serves an integral role in preparation and execution of the ranch’s artificial insemination and embryo transfer program.”
Above is Briar Parson. He is graduating from Devine High School and going to attend West Texas A&M to pursue a degree in Animal Science.
Words from Briar: "After high school, I plan to pursue a degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in meat science. I hope to continue contributing to agriculture and wildlife stewardship by promoting responsible animal care, sustainable land management, and safe, high-quality food production.”
