Thompson Trophy Whitetails in Sonora, Texas is looking for the perfect intern for the summer whitetail fawning season. Employment dates will be the months of June, July, and August of 2024, with the date felxibility pertaining to the end of the Spring Semester and beginning of the Fall Semester. This is a full-time Summer internship and days off and work hours will vary throughout the fawning season and will be determined by the ranch manager. The deer industry is unpredictable, however the staff will do their very best to give the individual appropriate time off from their ranch duties. Experience is perferrred but not required. Qualifications:

  • Clean background
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
  • Must possess a willingness to learn, the ability to follow directions and accept constructive criticism
  • Must have the ability to work well with others and be able to multitask
  • Must be able to work in extreme Texas weather conditions
  • Must be willing to work early, late evenings and into the night if necessary

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Checking the deer pens numerous times a day looking for newborn fawns and checking the overall health of the deer.
  • Candidate will learn to identify potential health issues, mediciation protocols, and how to administer meds as needed.
  • Handling, vaccinating, chipping, tagging and record keeping on newborn fawns.
  • Assisting in the bottle raising process of newborn fawns.
  • Assist in filling feeders (must be able to lift 50 lbs.) and cleaning water troughs.
  • Assist in additional ranch duties as needed.

Compensation and Terms:

  • The intern will be paid contract wages (1099) of $85 a day, and paid on a weekly basis
  • Workweek based on Monday through Friday, 5 days a week; some weekends will be required and paid a daily rate of $100 per day.
  • Housing provided at the ranch if needed, but will not include meals.

Tributary Sporting Club is offering a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about agriculture, animal husbandry, and sustainable practices. Interns will gain hands-on experience in daily ranch operations, from caring for whitetail and exotic wildlife to managing the land.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with daily feeding and care of animals on the ranch, in the pens, and in the bottle nursery.

  • Participate in preparing ranch for guest and entertaining clients, cooking, cleaning.

  • Maintain grounds, mowing, weedeat.

  • Assist with all daily chores of an operating ranch and hunting and breeding business.
